Mateus and Marcos... read more walked us through each dish, sharing the ingredients and their regional provenance in Portugal—so it was a bit educational, learning some about specific preparations too (such as the clay pot chicken). Mateus and Marcos were warm and lovely hosts, and were accommodating ahead of time with any special dietary needs. We had a great group; I was there solo and ended up going for drinks afterwards with some of my fellow diners and exchanged information with the others to be in touch—nice to share such a wonderful meal with friendly company 🙂

The food was amazing for such an affordable price and I loved hearing the history behind the menu choices and Mateus’ background and journey. It was great to meet other travelers and connect over a home-cooked meal. Truly felt like a home away from home experience.
